FEDERICO AHUMADA

Colombian Award-Winning Filmmaker known for «Las Gardenias,» «Pareja de Leones,» and «Puerto.»

Born in Sincelejo (Colombia), Federico was an amateur photographer and videographer since childhood. Way later on in his life, Federico attended Vancouver Film School (Vancouver, B.C., Canada), where he took two programs: Film Production and Acting for Film and TV.

Back in Colombia, Federico wrote and directed the fiction short film «Pareja de Leones» (Young Lions), filmed in Ponedera, Atlántico.

In 2021, Federico finished his first feature documentary, «Las Gardenias,» filmed in Barranquilla (Colombia). He directed, shot the camera, and co-edited the film, which was awarded internationally.

In 2023, Federico finished «Puerto,» a fiction short film shot in Barranquilla, Salgar, and Puerto Colombia. He was this film’s writer, director, co-editor, and co-producer. So far, «Puerto» has been the official selection in at least six international film festivals.

In 2024, Federico graduated as Director of Film and Audiovisuals at Universidad del Magdalena, thanks to a scholarship awarded to him by Proimágenes Colombia. He also immigrated to the United States and now lives in Orlando, Florida, developing new projects. He is also the CCO and Co-Founder of Iguana Studios.
