Federico Ahumada
I am a Colombian filmmaker dedicated to compelling storytelling through film and other audiovisual media. Every step of my career has been a quest to connect with the most genuine human emotions. I started as an amateur photographer and videographer. Later, I studied Film Production and Acting at Vancouver Film School.
My love for cinema has led me to write, direct, and produce films that seek not merely to tell a story, but to leave a memorable experience on set and on screen. My first official short film, “Pareja de Leones”, reflected my reconnection with my Caribbean roots and my initial exploration of the conflicts inherent to my region.

Then I made “Las Gardenias”, my first feature-length documentary, which won many international awards, served as a testament to my passion for the authentic stories of my country while imbuing them with a vision defined by resilience and narrative reframing.
“Puerto”
Next came “Puerto”, a fictional short film that also received many official selections and awards at international film festivals, delving even more deeply into the issues I had begun to address in my two previous films while exploring a darker genre like thriller.
After this, I won a scholarship from Proimágenes Colombia and graduated with a degree in Film and Audiovisuals from the University of Magdalena.
Seeking space for expansion, an inner voice, and a way to stay true to my vision, I migrated to the United States. In 2026, I started my film production company, Ahumada Films , through which I intend to bring my ideas to life while delivering audiovisual services in Florida.
As a filmmaker, I believe in the power of storytelling to transform ideas and in the importance of values and truth to create meaningful connections with audiences and collaborators. Stories are fundamental in the human experience and allow us to share diverse cultural perspectives and to connect on a deeper level through the universal language of film.
